Program Descriptions:

Looking for help in deciphering legal citations, tracking down regulations or coping with demanding pro se patrons? Then don't miss this year's DANJ conference! The 2004 conference, Brush With the Law, will help you to demystify one of the most specialized areas of government information: law. The conference will be held on Friday, November 5th, 2004 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Rutgers Law School in Newark.

The morning sessions will provide an overview of basic legal reference and examine the many free legal resources on the Internet. The Internet workshop will help librarians locate web sites that provide the most current and authoritative information.

In the afternoon participants will explore legal reference in depth. Workshops will cover statutory and administrative law, case law and legal databases including Westlaw and Lexis-Nexis. Hands-on training will be offered in state-of-the art computer labs. A tour of the law library will be offered after the afternoon workshops.

Registration for DANJ members is only $30 and includes breakfast, lunch and a free parking pass for on-campus lots. Non-member registration is $40 and the special rate for library students is just $25. The conference will also feature the presentation of awards for best New Jersey government publication and best New Jersey government web site of the year.

If the above sounds like a day not to be missed, we agree! Join us for Brush With the Law: Exploring Legal Reference. Breakfast and luncheon will be served on site at Rutgers Law School.

See you there!
